This is the fourth collaboration between Barjatya and Khan after their previous films Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Hum Saath Saath Hain. The film is a remake of 1952 American film The Prisoner of Zenda.
The film was released in India and Pakistan on 12 November 2015. The film was also released in Telugu and Tamil versions as Prema Leela and Mei Maranthaayo Anbe respectively.
